We've still got a few weeks left before school is back in session and the Aspen's begin to turn. I don't know about you, but I'm holding on tight to every bit of sunshine Buena Vista has to offer this month!
If you, too, are loving summer and are looking for a few more activities to squeeze in while the days are long, you'll find plenty of ideas below. From FREE movie nights at the drive-in to live music and Gold Rush Days, this email is packed full of local activities to enjoy through August!
It's time to grab your calendar and a friend and make some plans!
LIVE MUSIC AT TURNER FARM
Did you know that every Friday through August, Turner Farm offers live music on the lawn from 6-8?! Entry is by donation, so grab a picnic basket and a handful of friends and enjoy a quintessential summer evening!
GOLD RUSH DAYS!
This yearly event attracts the masses and always provides a festive atmosphere! From family friendly events, vendors galore, live music and historical reenactments, there is something for everyone. Head to McPhelmy Park (aka Town Lake!) on August 13 + 14 anytime between 9-4 to join in on the fun!
COMANCHE DRIVE-IN: A FREE MOVIE + NEW RELEASES Throw your kids in their jammies, load up the blankets and head to Comanche Drive-In for a FREE movie this month! On August 18, Buena Vista Drug and Salida Pharmacy + Fountain is sponsoring the showing of How to Train Your Dragon. Interested in seeing a new release? (Me too!) Also playing this month is Where the Crawdads Sing and Top Gun Maverick! I can't think of a better way to see these box office hits than under our stars.
Community dinner! It won't be here until September 19, but table reservations open August 6, and will stay open until September 6 this year! Interested in hosting family and friends? Be sure to head over to BVStrong.com to learn more and reserve your tables as early as this Saturday!
ODDS + ENDS
Two other items worth mentioning quickly...
BV Rec has opened registration for Fall Soccer. There is a ton of info on their website so be sure to check it out!
And, lastly... although the best pricing on season ski passes was in July, you can still get discounted passes at both Monarch Mountain and Ski Cooper this month!
That's all for now! I hope you enjoy some activities in town with friends and family this month and also find your way to the lakes and trails. We've still got plenty of summer days ahead... I can't wait to hear how you make the most of them!
Until next time,
Kathy
